Our previous experience on complex projects allows us to realise benefits in data and architect an effective data model for your project/ business which will form the basis of automated management reports, advanced statistical analysis and data science applications.
Using Microsoft Azure services, we build a secure flow of data from source systems through to a central Database or Data Lake. Our design is aligned to the needs of our clients, where high availability real-time (or near real-time) data is required then we scale up services accordingly, however if less frequently refreshed data sets are required then we can design the infrastructure accordingly – to develop a commercially efficient service.
Data from source systems ranges from full cloud-based platforms where published APIs allow easy data extractions; through to on-premise data sets such as SQL data and Excel sheets saved in a SharePoint Document Library. A published API is by far the more robust approach to using these data types, but we recognise, as an example, that data sets such as Excel can provide an effective source if used correctly.
By building the data model is an iterative process, we have found that most of our clients are unsure of what they need, or desire, until they actually start to see some data. We therefore take a pragmatic approach by building a quick start up benefits version of a data model, which then gets refined as we work through the data.
Our tried and tested approach uses our library of templates to build upon the service, this ensures we can hit the ground running, and are continually improving our base standards developed over multiple projects, with multiple clients – ensuring our benefits become our client benefits.
Microsoft Power BI is our chosen presentation layer when capturing data. We have many years of experience in building dashboards and reports in this recognised toolset but stand by our mantra that simplicity is key. By closely working with our clients user base we recommend appropriate charts and visuals to provide their outcome, and where possible add narrative to the reports to add an element of validation.
As reports and data models mature, we provide training to advanced users who can then connect to their data model in Power BI and start to discover greater insight from the data.
Once data is being regularly captured and is of high quality, then we are able to assist our clients with the use of various data science tools to enable greater insight from their data. This could be using sentiment analysis, or fully trained machine learning models as required. They key with any of our data science projects is to endeavour to provide our clients with data that can help inform decisions.
